Help is on the way, dear!
Fall is here in the Eastern United States and it is absolutely beautiful out. This perfect, crisp weather has really inspired me to sit in a windowless room and work on one of the most important features of Overseer that almost everyone ignores -- the tutorial.
That was mostly a joke, but seriously, no one reads the tutorial.
Getting people to read anything is a challenge, especially when faced with something brand new. Most people want to figure it out on their own and truth be told, I'm one of those people.
Credit where credit is due, I wouldn't have come up with a solution for a better tutorial without the help of our amazing community on Discord. I prompted the community with a quick poll on how they would like the tutorial to be formatted and the results were cut and clear.
Learn the basics
When you first start Overseer Studio, you'll be greeted with a new section called Learn the basics which features 17 unique GIFs and articles showing different facets of Overseer. You can access these help articles at anytime using the Get help button located at the top-right of the toolbar.
If you have suggestions for new articles, please let me know in Discord.
The things no one notices
I spent a lot of time finding and fixing very minor styling issues. For example, tooltips now respect the current theme and focusing a text element will properly highlight using the primary color. Additionally, the Overseer logo uses the proper two-toned shading.
I'm confident almost no one has paid any attention to these inconsistencies but they bothered me and they are now all fixed.
What's next
I made incredible progress on Global search and Drawing tools and I'm looking forward to shipping those in the next few updates. I would have loved to include them in this update but they still require more testing and performance monitoring. Stay tuned!
